This week we will be using the artist Max Ernst to inspire our art.

Max Ernst  was born in April 1891 and died on the 1st of April 1976. He was a German painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and poet.  He created a technique in art called frottage. This is when you use your pencil to make rubbings of textured objects which you find around your home.

You will need:

  • a pencil and paper
  • resources in your home or garden

Watch the video to learn the technique.

Collage and Frottage Landscape

Use texture rubbings and some collage to create really interesting landscapes.

Choose things that you have in your house or garden that have different textures. Have a look at some of the things I found on my house.
