Breaking News!

Today is the publication day for Gargantis by Thomas Taylor. This is the follow up book to Malamander. It seams such a long time ago that we were reading Malamander in class. They have produced a promotional film. We all really enjoyed the film they created for Malamander. I know I am going to watch it later today.

Home Learning

Hello everyone,

This is our area for our Home Learning and ways to support your child while the school is closed. Please do keep checking our class page as I will be uploading daily tasks, weekly tasks and general ways of to support your child. Also, please do bear with me as this class page is a work in progress.

Reading

Please encourage your child to read every day on their own and when able with an adult. I will put further support for this in the general reading folder. During school closure, I will be carrying out a ‘read along with me’. I will be posting daily tasks based around the book.

Maths

I will upload daily tasks that children can complete. This will be mainly worksheet based and you can choose to print this out or your child can view on the screen and use an exercise book (or paper) to complete.

Please encourage your child to practise their multiplication facts. I encourage children to use Times Table Rock Stars, however there are many other ways to learn and I will include these in the general maths folder.

In the general maths folder, I will include other resources that your child can use and I will ensure these are not all screen based.

Spelling & Grammar

There will be a daily spelling or grammar activity which will be very similar to the activities that we complete in class.

I am also going to highlight a ‘rule’ that the children can use Spelling Frame to revise. Please be aware that this is revision so may be found in lower year group areas.

Writing

I am going to release a weekly writing task. More details will be provided with each task.

Please do not put yourself under pressure to create the perfect schedule of learning activities as it more important for all to stay well and happy. I am also keenly aware that many of you will also be working from home, so please do not feel pressure from me to complete every single task.

It is really important for everyone to look after themselves, so this may mean that watching films, gardening, playing board games, drawing or baking is what you need.

Best wishes to all and keep well and happy,

Rachel Lewis
