Spelling tests will happen every Friday morning, and new spellings will be given out every Friday. We have given out a 'spelling menu' with various activities for practising spellings, so please encourage your children to spend a few minutes practising at home. We really appreciate your support!
Week 5 spellings were handed out on Monday 6th December, as there was no spelling test on Friday 3rd December due to Decorations Day! This week's spellings all contain the spelling <ch> represented by three different sounds: /sh/ as in chef, /ch/ as in children, and /k/ as in chaos.
The next test will take place on Monday 13th December - but new spellings will be given out on Friday 10th December so that we can return to the usual Friday spelling tests.
This week, we have been learning words with the spelling <ou> representing the short /u/ sound (as in 'but'). The following words will be tested on Friday 3rd December.
This week, we have been learning spellings with the /ay/ sound, represented by the spellings 'ey', 'ei' and 'eigh'. The following words will be tested on Friday 25th November.
This week, we are learning to spell some 'tricky words'. Please check with your child which spelling list they have brought home. These will be tested on Friday 19th November.
