We are going to begin a new unit, today, based on a poem about the Greek gods. We will look at some of the features found within a poem, revise modal verbs and subjunctive form, investigate some adventurous vocabulary and finally, experiment with writing poetry ourselves.
To start, please print out and read Daydreaming by Joshua Seigal (posted below)
What do you think the poem is about? Try to explain how you know this, by referring back to the text.
What do you notice about the poem? Annotate your copy with your thoughts and highlight any features that you recognize.
Once you have read the poem and made sense of it, have a look at the annotated version (also posted below) and follow the instructions on the task sheet. You will also need the adventurous vocabulary definitions.
