Morning Chestnuts!

Hope you have had a lovely half-term and managed to enjoy like me, some time outside on the downs or the beach or in the garden. I was walking on the beach yesterday with Lolly the dog, in the beautiful warm sunshine, thinking to myself how lovely it is to see people with smiley, cheery faces enjoying the sunshine too.

This week we plan to have lots more enjoyable learning. In maths, we are going to be counting with money. In English we are going to be retelling the story of the Three Little Pigs but from the Wolfs point of view, there are some surprises to be had......In topic we do some DT and going to be designing and making a shadow puppet theatre. You will have the opportunity to perform a puppet show......."I'll huff and I'll puff and I will blow your theatre down."

Plus, there is one folder for this weeks spelling and handwriting practice. So you can have a choice of challenge to help you learn this weeks words. My advice, have a look through the folder and choose a challenge a day to help you learn the words. Plus daily practice your handwriting by writing the words, which will also help you learn them.

Stay safe and well! Mr Gates

Light and Shadow, Puppet Theatre

This week we are going to undertake some Design Technology and enlighten ourselves with  the Science of light and shadow.

Plus, we will add in some drama and the chance for you to create your own stage play!

Over the week you are going to design and make a shadow puppet theatre and shadow puppets, then I will ask you to create and perform your own theatre puppet show,.

Today's task, with the help of an adult is to create your theatre. You will need a cardboard box, some paints and felt tips/sharpies (remember to take great care of them) and the help of an adult to cut the shape of your theatre (helpers you may want to use a craft knife for the cutting stage to create a sharper/better finish than scissors might allow, obviously take great care!).

I have added a link to a puppet theatre show to inspire you and a power point that explains how to make your theatre. Once you have created your theatre take a picture and send it in.
