I am writing this on a beautiful and sunny Sunday morning. I hope you and your families are all well and have had an opportunity to enjoy this lovely spring weather. Yesterday, Ms Lewis, Lolly the dog and I walked along the beach. The sun shone brightly and the sea was a beautiful azure, sparkly blue. It was a wonderful morning to be out and about!
Today, Lolly and I are going to go for a walk in the woods, looking for the early buds of spring and to enjoy the birdsong and then, I plan to climb a hill to admire the view. Maybe you are going to something similar? I look forward to hearing about your weekends.
So, to our learning: In maths, this week for the early part of the week we will continue learning to add and subtract money. Then we are going to have a go at statistics and we begin this learning with recapping from year 2, tally charts. Tallyho!
English we are to continue writing about Alexander, that poor misunderstood Wolf.
However, very excitingly it is World Book Day this Thursday and we shall certainly be joining in the fun and celebrations. We will have an off time table day. I encourage you on Thursday, to dress up as a favourite character from a book or as a book! (please though make use of what you already have at home). Then, there will be lots of fun activities posted on our class pages for you to enjoy doing throughout the day. Our teams lesson on Thursday will be about celebrating World Book Day (Alexander gets a day off and we won't be sentence stacking).
In topic this week, we continue the theme of light and shadow and the week is very much a week of STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Maths) learning. I have created a topic folder and in it is a task sheet with some lovely creative ideas for you to dip into. Choose something each day you like a look of from the task sheet and challenge yourself to have a go at it. As the week progress I will add some more challenges for you.
There is also a spelling folder for this weeks spelling, choose a challenge a day from it to help you to learn the spelling words for this week.
As always, enjoy the sunshine and I look foward to seeing you all and hearing about all your adventures tomorrow! Best wishes Mr Gates
