We're very pleased that our teaching and support staff will be accessing some very high quality training about the mastery approach to teaching and learning in maths over the coming academic year.
Mrs Lewis and Mrs Adams are part of a Teacher Research Group (TRG) organised by the Maths Hub for Sussex. They will both spend six half days over the coming year working alongside teachers from other primary schools in the South-East, as well as a specialist maths mastery teacher. As well as these half days, the school will receive a further three days of support in developing a mastery approach to teaching and learning in maths, including the upcoming INSET Day on November 12th.
Miss Baulcomb is due to attend training later this year on best practice in the teaching and learning of maths in EYFS and Mrs Knight and Mrs Kerrigan are also attending three half-day sessions on different aspects of teaching for mastery in maths over the next few months.
We will shortly be announcing some dates for open sessions when parents and carers can come along to watch a typical maths lesson in their children's class or classes to see how the teaching and learning of maths in the school is changing.
