Phonics sound 'igh'
Today we learnt a brand new sound 'igh.' This new sound is a 'triagraph' which means it has three letters together that makes just one sound. Can you practise writing our new sound today? It will be great to practise these with your pens and pencils, and then maybe you could practise it into playdough, or sand, or with chalks, anything you like - alongside our new tricky word 'you.' As you saw in my lesson today, I had been practising writing 'you' with paint, maybe you could do the same! Then scroll below to watch Geraldine the Giraffe find things around her home that feature our new sound 'igh.' Can you find anything around your home? The 'igh' workbook is also below if you would like to look at this too.
I would then like you to remind yourselves of our Phase 2 sounds by watching the video below, before having a play on 'Tricky Trucks' on Phonics Play to remind yourselves of the tricky words!
