Letter sound j

Today we have been looking again at our new sound 'j.' Can you have another go at writing tricky word 'j'? Remember to start your letters from the top and to hold your pencil with those 'froggy legs' as we call them at school.

Now can you have a go at sounding out and blending the words below? Can you spot the letter 'j'? Where is it in the word, is it at the beginning, the middle or at the end of the word?

On Bug Club I have allocated you some new books! As you are reading the books can you look for 'j' in the words? How many did you spot? I have also allocated to you the Phonics lesson for 'j' if you would like to look at this as an additional resource, alongside some Phonics games! (Parents you may need to click on the 'Phonics' tab above the selection of books that your child chooses from to access these).

You may have had a go at some writing whilst listening to my Phonics lesson today, but if you didn't (or if you would like to have another go!) can you write the words that match the pictures below? Use a sound mat to help you if you wish. You will find the Phonics sound mat available to print or to look at on screen on the main page of Maple class webpage (before clicking on Term 3 - Home Learning). Maybe you could also draw some pictures of things beginning with 'j' too and writing next to it what you have drawn smiley
