English - Guided Reading

The Wooly Mammoth

Today we are reading a non-fiction information text. Our task is to retrieve information from it. To prepare for the lesson (and If  you are able too print) , with your grown-up Chestnut, read through the text and choose the task from the three challenges that best suits you.

Do not worry If you cannot print the sheets as  you will be able to access the text and the questions during the lesson.

Above are some activities that will help you to focus on your wellbeing . They are designed  to help you think about how you feel and  to help you feel positive and good about the great person you are.

You have a choice of challenge: You can choose to have a go at all of them, or choose the tasks that you will think you will enjoy doing. But do have a go at the exercise, this will help both with your brain and body fitness!

Spellings/Dictionary Challenge

Go back to Monday's spelling challenge and choose five root words and add the correct prefix. Now use a dictionary (if you don't  have one at home, use an online version) to look up what they mean. If you are not sure of how to find a word in a dictionary, ask your learning partner to remind you how to look up words in one.

Extra challenge, can you then write a meaning in your own words for those 5 words?
