Week 1
Spellings – Words spelt with ‘a’ after ‘w’ and ‘qu’ and some common exception words.
want |
watch |
wander |
squash |
quality |
quantity |
quarrel |
friend |
because |
people |
What do you notice about the words? Focus on the first letter(s) and the sound the ‘a’ makes.
Potential activities:
Rainbow write: First write each word in pencil. Then trace over each word three times, using a different coloured pencil/crayon each time. Trace them neatly and you will see a rainbow!
Silly Sentences: Write silly sentences using a spelling word in each sentence. Then underline your spelling word. Remember to write neatly.
English Task
To write your own version of the Little Red Riding Hood story; you can use your story map to help you. Think carefully about your beginning, build up, problem, resolution, then ending. Maybe you could write one part of your story each day.
Project
Your project this week is linked to your English task. Can you ‘publish’ your Little Red Riding Hood story and make it into a real book? Think carefully about your nice neat handwriting and drawing lovely colourful pictures. I’ll look forward to seeing them when we are back.
