The Iford and Kingston PTFA is a friendly and dedicated group of parents, carers and staff who come together to make a positive difference for every child in the school. At its heart, the PTFA is about creating opportunities - enhancing learning, enriching experiences, and helping to build a school environment where children feel supported, inspired, and excited to grow.

Through fundraising events, social activities, and hands-on support, the PTFA helps provide extra resources that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. From improvements to the playgrounds and building an amazing outdoor classroom, to funding new technology, special activities such as workshops and exciting school trips. The group plays a vital role in bringing added value to everyday school life. Just as importantly, it helps strengthen the sense of community, giving families a chance to connect, make friends, and feel more involved in their children’s education.

The PTFA matters because when families and schools work together, children benefit. Seeing parents and carers engaged in school life boosts children’s confidence, motivation, and pride in their learning. Here at Iford And Kingston, every parent is expected to volunteer at one event a year as standard, with those that are able to give more time being very much welcomed to do so. By taking this approach, we avoid having the same small group of parents helping at every single event and we prevent unnecessary burnout. 

The biggest PTFA events of the year are the Summer Fair and the Fireworks Festival! Both of these events are much loved by our school community and combined, raise roughly £8000 annually which makes a huge difference to what we are able to do for the school! We also hold many other events throughout the year from non-uniform days, discos, a winter fair and much more. 

 

Would you like to do more or have a say in how and where funds are raised or spent? If the answer is yes, them the PTFA Committee is for you. We are a warm and welcoming group who are always keen to have new members join. Each Committee member gets to choose from a list of roles and decides which role will utilise their skills best. These roles all differ in levels of time commitments and frequency. We have found that this is the best way of running a smooth PTFA whilst protecting everyone's precious personal time. 

 

Being on the PTFA is a highly rewarding thing to be a part of but all Committee roles, are just people that want to help improve the children's education and time at school, they do it for free because they care.
